The majority of Ventnor's population of 10,000 are of retirement age; people end up school, they most likely to work or examine on the mainland, and mostly they do not return. Kidd is a large as well as ruminative male in his very early 50s whose tanned face bears in repose an expression of thoughtful disquiet. He is a long-lasting socialist; in his time at Kew Gardens, he arranged a walkout-- the first ever strike in Kew background-- which earned him a credibility as something of an instigator in the industry. He speaks eloquently about the background of the arboretum as an institution, as well as its status as an inheritance of manifest destiny. He sees Ventnor as an experiment, as an attempt to figure out what an arboretum must look like in the 21st century. The ostensible aim of the Ventnor Method is to produce what they call "synthetic ecosystems", which operate even more like a native environment than a normal botanic yard. http://mvb05032019.ru/index.php/Webpage |
